Martina Mendiburu Aletti

Founder of Martina Maletti
Martina, of half Spanish and half Italian descent, found her greatest inspiration in her mother Amelie, an Italian woman with a passion for fashion.
His family has a rich history in the industry, being the founders of Sartoria Ventura: a prestigious Italian fashion house that has been in operation since 1815 in Milan under the direction of Domenico Ventura.

The company, which had more than 800 employees and several locations, has dressed renowned personalities, from film and theatre actresses such as Clara Calamai and Isa Miranda, to members of the nobility such as the Queen of Italy, Marie-Joseph of Belgium, and the princesses Colonna, Barberini and Odescalchi, as well as the wealthy bourgeoisie of the time.

This legacy had a profound influence on Martina, awakening in her an innate passion for fashion and design. However, her approach differs significantly from the traditional approach to the industry.

“I believe in fashion that is accessible to all, without sacrificing the importance of sustainability and craftsmanship”.”

As creative director, she has set out to challenge preconceived notions of luxury, creating a brand that offers high quality fashion at affordable prices, while prioritising sustainable sourcing, promoting responsible consumption and featuring exceptional design.

Since the 20th century until today

During her creative process, Martina draws inspiration from a wide range of influences, from artists such as Brancusi and Joan Miró, to contemporary designers such as Proenza Schouler, Saint Laurent, Jacquemus, A.W.A.K.E. MODE and Khaite. He also finds inspiration in figures from the world of art and architecture, such as Jean Pierrot, Sebastien Zanella, Oliver Gustav, Axel Veervordt, Le Corbusier and Ricardo Bofill.

“She has decided to follow her heart and make her dream come true: to launch her own fashion label, combining timeless elegance with a modern and conscious vision of the world.”

Martina furthered her knowledge by studying International Management at the University of Navarra in Pamplona and Fashion Design at the prestigious Marangoni Institute in Milan. In addition, she complemented her education with a variety of fashion courses at Central Saint Martins in London. With a solid professional experience acquired in world-renowned brands such as Burberry and Bottega Veneta (from the Kering Group).
